Who is going? Bertie, Me & 2 other mates are off. Should be a good weekend.
Hope to get further than round 2 this year. Played like a plank last year.
I won't have to try that hard to beat my performance at Reighton sands this year. I got well & truely smashed on vodka Friday night and didn't come back to life again until 19:00 Sat night.
Result: scratched.

well best tournament i've had for a while showing there's life in the old dog yet, 4 SEMI-FINALS including a narrow 4-3 loss to the eventual winner craig bousfield from derbys, actually lost all 4 to the eventual winners.
the youngsters continue to show that there's a new guard just around the corner with young jamie pittam reaching a flyer semi and ross kingham joining me and carl in reaching the team semi where all 3 of us beat kev seaman and yet still lost the match - that won't happen often.
Surprised picky lost the ameteur final but 3 dry breaks must have took it's toil.
any way any one interested in a small world rules tournament on the 13th at our interleague venue the Kirkstead get in touch £10 entry best of 5 £120 winner with a singleframe plate for 1st round losers. Young Danny Quinn took the honours last month beating Ady Newton in the final. Start 7.00p.m prompt max 40 entries played on 3 tables and with 10 -14 juniors the matches take no time at all. |

Well I might as well have not bothered turning up. I played very poorly in the main event, struggling to even put balls 2 inches from the holes. Losing 4-0 to what turned out to be the one of the loosing semi-finalists in first round. Strange as I felt confident, but just kept making basic, silly mistakes. Embarassing really.
Played OK-ish in the team event, but needed my once-a-year huge slice of luck to beat Paddy with an outrageous fluke (sorry again Paddy). Again out first round.
Played sort of OK in doubles with Bertie, going out 3-2. Did my bit, Bertie not having to carry me too much. But feel I let him down. Maybe next year he should go with someone more his ability level. Yet another first round exit.
Then played well against Chris Mimms in amateur, going down 3-2 after winning first 2 frames, to complete the set with another first round exit.
So it looks like that UK semi appearance 3 years back was just a fluke, as it is quite obvious that I am just not good enough to enter these tournaments. I will have to think long and hard about whether I bother to keep turning up to them. I enjoy the events, the banter etc. but if I am just getting turned over very easily in the first round each year, you have to ask yourself what the point of going is. _________________ A good loser, is still a loser. |
