this years squad after a very competitive trials are as follows
Kye Overton - 1 win off making the England trials - let's hope he can keep this standard up. Temperament and focus a must.
Sam Bennett - missing the last game spoilt his chances - but with 3 more years at this level he must make the top 8 at some stage -excellent prospect for the future.
Ben Howden - this should be his year but must put any losses behind him and focus on the next game - ability in bucket loads.
Danny Quinn - if he can keep his confidence and get a good start then he will fly but must commit to the year of fixtures
Callum Prince - excellent first season -must build on it and focus on each individual game - an improved position this year will set up 2009 to be his year.
Ashley Banks - temperament that puts many adults to shame and the most improved player of last year - could be a dark horse for top 8
Robert Christie - like Ashley in temperament and Callum in performance -will be a mainstay of the team and will never give up on a frame.
Jamie Pittam - found the step up to county a challenge but got all the tools to really make this year a good one -if he can transfer tournament play to county frames watch out.
Luke Christian - the youngest player in the squad and this year will be another learning one but will never let the team down and over the next 4 years will be a real contender.
Jamie Turner - played at the end of last season came through the trials -excellent addition to the squad and has shown the temperament and ability to do well.
Ollie Bell - top trialist played excellent pool last year for Humberside B - will captain the side this year and will be pushing for the top - 1 good year here and then the Men's team next year.
Craig White-another trialist who played in both men's and junior's trials and was unfortunate to just miss out at men's level but will be a valuable squad addition
Jake Rayner - like Jamie Turner helped out at back of last season and with some more experience won't let the squad down.
Danny Thompson - came through a very competitive trial and took the last place but definitely won't let any one down and if he is at number 14 at the beginning of the season the competition for places is there from the offset.
looking at this squad now the first match is so important - a good start against the last 3 years champions - putting the team before individual glory and focus and team spirit this team could do the best a lincolnshire team has done. Any drops in any of this and in Danny Pinder/ Guy Elsom there are 2 players biting at the bit to join the squad. |
